Lord of The Rings Concert

On a lazy Sunday afternoon, most of the people like to watch movie. One of my favorite movie is the Lord of The Rings; moreover, we had a chance to listen to this great movie`s music in life. There was a fantastic concert at the huge Key Arena on the last week. Fortunately, the conductor was Howard Shore: who is this famous movie`s music composer also. The impressive choir is about one hundred and twenty singers, and there are about one hundred fantastic musicians. We bought our concert tickets a few months ago; therefore, the organizers upgraded them. When we arrived at the crowded Key Arena the friendly security staff member said we got a better spot, so we could enjoy the concert from a more comfortable place. Turn back to the movie, and the choir. Really young kids, women, men and two solo singers sang phenomenally. They gave us an unforgettable feeling. When I listened to the solo singer, I got goose bumps on my arms and back. Her voice was so wonderful. Originally, Enya, the famous singer is the solo singer of the trilogy`s music. She was nominated - and won - for the Academy Award for Best Song in 2002 and for Grammy. The Canadian composer won three Oscars for this monumental music. As we know, this story`s basic is J. R.R. Tolkien The Hobbit from 1937. The Lord of the Rings In Concert: The Fellowship of the Ring kicks off a three-year celebration during which each of the three Academy Award®-winning films will be performed In Concert upon the tenth anniversary of its release. The Fellowship of the Ring (2001) is tour in 2011, The Two Towers (2002) will be in 2012, and the grand finale, The Return of the King (2003), will be in 2013. Composer Howard Shore said, "My first score for The Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Fellowship of the Ring, was the beginning of my journey into the world of Tolkien, and I will always hold a special fondness for the music and the experience." In my opinion: not just the hobbit`s story will stay with us for a long time the music also. I like to listen to this music when I drive longer. This music is melodious and full with emotions, which makes women happy.      

Whistler

Whistler's unique environment and status as Canada's most celebrated mountain resort made for an ideal backdrop to the Winter Games' alpine events. In 2010 were the twenty-first Winter Olympic Games were hold in Vancouver, Canada. Lots of people love sports, especially the Olympic Games. Last year the beautiful Vancouver was the host city. Vancouver and that area is wonderful and perfect for the tournament. Approximately 250 athletes’ registered for around 80 medals. The Canadian people were friendly and British Columbia offered many kinds of programs for visitors. The Opening Ceremony was about the Indian aboriginal story. The audience had to wear white clothes because they were involved into the show. The Indian story showed spiritual feeling. The performers were all volunteers. My favorite sports are the figure skating and ski jumping. Figure skating is beautiful and seems easy, but I am afraid it is hard. I don`t know; I never tried it. Ski jumping is interesting and sometimes awesome for me. The distance is too long that they spend in the air. Snowboard race is extreme for me because they are too close each other. That was exciting and spectacular. Here are some interesting things about the Olympic and Paralympics Games: With the 2010 Olympic and Paralympics Winter Games a resounding success, Whistler Blackcomb invites the world to experience the legacies and magic of the Games. The Official Alpine Skiing Venue, which includes the Dave Murray Downhill and the Women's Course on Whistler Mountain which the Olympians and Paralympians competed on, are open to the public for skiing and snowboarding. Snowmaking capabilities at Whistler Blackcomb have more than doubled due to a four-year partnership and a $17.5 million investment by VANOC. Guests will enjoy improved early-season snow coverage as well as longer lasting ski outs as the season winds down. The Sea to Sky Highway, greatly improved during the lead up to the Games, is now a faster, safer and more scenic route from Vancouver to Whistler.

In summary I enjoyed to watch the games and cheered for the Hungarian and the U.S.A. teams too. I will be there as soon J.

Cheese cake - orange chocolate chips

Cheese cake – orange chocolate chips

All ingredients at room temperature – except the crust

Pre- heat oven to 350.

Buttered spring form pan. I use release butter foil for the bottom and just butter the sides.

Crust: five minutes preparation time

Ginger snaps or chocolate cookies pulverized.

One stick unsalted butter melted. I do this in the microwave.

Some sugar if you want, but it makes it more like a toffee bottom.

Mix together and press into the bottom of the pan, and then freeze for at least an hour, the butter must be hard.

Filling: all of these ingredients must be at room temperature. Fifteen minutes preparation time.

·         4 pgs cream cheese

·         1 teaspoon of vanilla

·         ½ jar orange marmalade

·         ½ jar lemon curd

·         1 cup bakers sugar or less

·         4 eggs – one at a time and beat in between

Fold in: put all of these stuff on top and fold in, but not too much stirring, maybe two strokes, because that can cause the cake to crack.

Orange zest of one large orange.

Orange slices, chopped – seeds and white membrane removed, also add the juice that is on your cutting board from cutting up the oranges. Fold in a ton of high quality chocolate chips, I prefer 60% Ghirardelli.

Bake for an hour or until the center has a slight jiggle and the top is light brown. Some of the cooking happens while cooking, in other words, after the baking the center will firm up.

Cool for at least a half hour, the cake will shrink in from the edge of the pan, then take a knife around the edge, and then refrigerate for six hours or overnight, while still in the pan, before releasing the pan to serve.

You can store in the freezer for months is your wrap sections in plastic wrap and then foil.

The cake might crack in the cooling down process. I`m told that many thing cause cracking, cold eggs, too much beating. I do not know what else. My cakes often crack, but I do not care!

Decoration: if you must, or to cover a big crack from the cooling down process, but the cake is plenty rich is own.

·         ½ cup whipping cream

·         2 tablespoon baker`s sugar

·         Beat the above

·         Fold in zest of orange or lemon

·         Spread on the cake form the center to outward.

Ruby Holler

I want to share a story about one of my first book what I read and enjoyed in English.  The title of the book is Ruby Holler. Winner of the Newbery Medal for Walk Two Moons. About the story: Dallas and Florida are orphans. They are living in the Boxton Creek Home. They have a dream to leave together in Ruby Holler. The Boxton Creek Home is home for orphan children from six months old to thirteen years old. Currently thirteen children, Mr. and Mrs. Trepid as a teacher, their assistant Morgan, and the building manager live there. Dallas and Florida are the oldest kids in the home. When the twins moved in the home they got a nice cozy room after that they had to move to the smaller one. The home`s main idea removes the kids back to a family. Once they got an opportunity to move to a real family, but later they were go back to the home because the new parents were not ready for children. The twins want to know who their parents are and where are they?  They got an invitation to Ruby Holler for summer vacation. The host family is a friendly old couple. Dallas and Florida are not too excited, they think it will be similar moving project than earlier so they will not stay longer there than a few weeks and after the summer vacation they will have to move back to the home. But finally they prove this offer. Ruby Holler is a huge property with lots of things and there are not too many roles. The twins are helping to Tiller and Sairy the host parents the activity of daily living and they like this house and lifestyle. Moving forward in the story we meet with every character`s most important idea. Tiller worries about the twins. Sairy does not worry about the kids; she is thinking are they good parents? The twins want to do something for them as appreciation. The host parents want to take a trip with Dallas and Florida and they talk about a treasure… I will continue.     

Immunization and Diabetes

This is my first blog so I hope Dear Reader you will enjoy my topics in the next twelve weeks.

 

Immunization

Is the process by which an individual`s immune system becomes fortified against an agent – know as the immunogenic. Immunizations protect us from serious disease and also prevent the spread of those diseases to others. Some vaccines need to be given only once; others require updates to maintain successful immunization and continued protection against disease.

The recommended immunizations for children 0 – 6 years of age include:

-          Hepatitis A,B, C                                

-          Rotavirus                                             

-          Diphteria, Tetanus, Pertussis               

-          Pneumococcal                                     

-          Inactivated poliovirus                         

-          Influenza                                             

-          Measles, Mumps, Rubella                 

-          Varicella (Chickenpox)

-          Meningoccal  

                                      

When we get an immunization, we are injected with a weakened form of a disease. After that our body`s immune system response and to produce antibodies to that illness. The goal of the Public Health is to prevent disease. In this way is much easier and cost-effective to prevent a disease rather than treat it. It is important to keep our kid`s immunizations on schedule and up to date.

Diabetes

Diabetes is a most common disorder of the endocrine system.

Causes: When the body cannot regulate blood sugars. Here are two types of Diabetes.

Type I: previously known as juvenile diabetes, the body`s immune system destroys insulin-producing cells in the pancreas.

Type II: the most common type of diabetes accounting for 90 – 95% of people with diabetes – They are insulin resistant.

More million people have a pre-diabetes and insulin resistance in the United States.

Warning signs the symptom of type two diabetes due to high blood sugar may include:

-         - Increase thrist, hunger                         - headaches

-          -Dry mouth                                           - loss of consciousness

-          -Frequent urination                               - numbness and tingling of the hands and feet.

-          -Fatigue

-          -Blurred vision

Finally here is some interesting facts about the human body:

-          The average adult human is about 5 – 6 feet tall.

-          We have 206 bones.

-          The strongest muscle in the body is the tongue.

-          The human brain weight is about three pounds.

-          Only 7% of the population is left handed.

-          The average person falls asleep in seven minutes.
